Technology for Social Good

Serve IT provides students with unique real-world learning experiences while helping local non-profits with technology needs and supporting the technological self-efficacy of community members. We believe that technology can be used to help level the playing field for nonprofits and their constituents and stakeholders. Serve IT offers students the opportunity to support nonprofit professionals technologically, gaining skills while enabling this important community sector to work more efficiently to solve our community’s most complex social problems.
Serve IT is a collaborative effort involving many different partners within Indiana University and the greater Monroe County area. Housed in the IU School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, the clinic partners include the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, University Information Technology Services (UITS), and the IU Office of Service Learning, and the Kelley School of Business. Community collaborators include the City of Bloomington, The United Way of Monroe County, the Bloomington Volunteer Network, and the Community Foundation.
